Even until the 1970s, due to lack of awareness of fire safety throughout society, there were frequent cases of enormous casualties and property damage in large-scale fires, such as those at Daeyeonggak Hotel and Mammoth Hotel.

In 1973, PARATECH Co., Ltd., in a situation wherein the fire service industry was a wasteland, was established with the corporate philosophy of contributing to human society by protecting human lives and property. We acquired national certification for the first time in Korea and then distributed over 20 types of firefighting products including sprinklers. Since the 1980s, starting with heat radiators for heating, we expanded our range, acquiring KS mark certification for heating radiators, pressure regulators, liquid petroleum gas valves, ball valves, and hot water distributors.

In 1995, we established a corporate-affiliated technology research institute to improve the design of existing products, research and develop new products, and establish an industry-academe cooperation system.
Despite the challenging business environment, we have steadily pursued the development of new products, continuously creating sprinklers with entirely different designs and concepts from the traditional ones. We have developed and distributed automatic fire extinguishers for protection against kitchen fires and CPVC piping material with superior corrosion resistance. Additionally, we developed flexible sprinkler hoses for use in fire protection facilities in semiconductor and LCD manufacturing plant cleanrooms, acquiring FM certification. We have also acquired certifications for 31 products including sprinklers, valves, and SP-JOINT from UL, FM, LPCB, and Japan Fire Equipment Inspection Institute, exporting them to many countries including the USA and Japan. In 2006, we were awarded the "$5 million export tower award."

As PARATECH's firefighting products are directly related to public safety, under the motto of “get it right from the beginning,” they are equipped with perfect quality system and product development principles of being light, beautiful, safe, convenient, cheap, new, and fast. As a result of these efforts, we acquired ISO 9001 certification and received the Presidential Award for the second consecutive year at the National Quality Management Circle Presentation Conference, the Presidential Award for Facility Management at the National Quality Management Conference, the Stone Tower Industrial Service Medal, and the Silver Tower Industrial Service Medal. In 2008, we acquired the Excellent Quality Certification for sprinklers from the Korea Fire Institute. In 2009, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy selected our newly developed automatic fire extinguisher as a Good Design (GD) product. Moreover, in 2006, we announced our new BI FESCO—laying the foundation for a global brand—and won the Grand Prize for Brand Management that year.
